Q. What does CIDology mean?

A. CID represents “Common Interest Development”; -ology means “the study of”. If you combine both, CIDology is the study of Common Interest Developments, which is what we do as we help solve issues for better operating, more valuable properties.

Q. So, is CIDology Inc. primarily a project management service supported by customized online environments (see below) reflecting the physical condition of the property and the processes associated with the same?

A. Yes, we simplify the process for better understanding, generating consensus and the ability to generate strategies that work.

Q. How do your services differ from a traditional construction manager?

A. Much of the value of our services is realized before and after a construction or reconstruction project has happened – therefore we do not limit or services to Construction Management only.

Q. What is a “customized online environment”?

A. We generate and maintain custom secure websites for each of our clients (HOAs) accessible through password protected portals. These are not stand-alone sites nor can they be connected to existing HOA websites. The contents on the site specifically deal with the issues related to the physical property, its conditions, records, plans, specifications and modeling of current and future considerations so that they are better understood. Information is kept current with the status of the project so that all stakeholders can feel confident and aware of the issues facing the property, goals, progress and future planning as it develops.

Q. Why is this information important?

A. Good information available in a timely fashion is key to confidence among the membership and all stakeholders. The historical data and accuracy of current issues empowers better and more effective management, lowering costs, improving property condition, preventing waste and increasing the value of the property.

Q. Are your services expensive?

A. No, Our process and services were born out of a necessity to solve challenges confronting HOA’s as they age as an alternative to the mistake ridden process typical to the industry because of the difficulties inherent when working with large numbers of property owners over long periods of time. Our clients hire us because we generate results and action that are affordable and improve the value of their property. We have fee structures to fit any property or set of circumstances as we realize there are no two properties that have the same issues.

Q. Do you have your own group of contractors you work with?

A. No. CIDology will assist in the process of finding and selecting contractors and vendors to generate the best possible vendors for the project using time tested techniques. Contractors and vendors are ultimately selected by the HOA; either from local entities known to the HOA or pre-qualified vendors who have demonstrated expertise and business qualities that would benefit the HOA.

Q. When is the best time to engage CIDology?

A. Now. Q. I might like to have CIDology assist our HOA with discovery, strategy and planning, but I want to do our own project oversight, using our own contractors.

A. This is quite common.  CIDology has a process designed to fit this scenario.

Q. Our HOAs reserves are grossly underfunded and therefore we have been forced to perform only “band-aid” repairs.  Are there alternatives?
